Traditional bluegrass music enthusiasts and Bluegrass Cardinal fans alike will appreciate the new tradition of David Parmley's group, Continental Divide. In changing the band's directly and returning to familiar as well as highly requested material, Parmley takes the purse of "roads most traveled" and popular. Many Cardinal favorites will now be included in the bands repertoire, balanced by traditional mainstays and fresh originals composed by the newest incarnation of talented, acclaimed, and highly sought after musicians chosen for this chart topping group. Don't let the departure of virtuosos as Vestal, Simpkins, and Kohrs deter your interest in the Divide or fool you into thinking that hard driving songs with incredible punch and drive, or numbers that require precise intricate musicianship are a thing of the past. With original Divide member Mike Anglin maintaining the backbone of the group in his solid manner he acoustically changes the sound of the group as well as its visual image by eliminating the use of the electric bass. He is joined by three veteran vocalists, songwriters and musicians, Danny Barnes on mandolin, Ben Greene on banjo, and fiddle player Steve Day that along with the dynamic and soulful vocals of David Parmley will prove to be an award winning combination sure to please crowds of all.
David Parmley

A native of southern California, David was the co-foundered lead singer of the nationally acclaimed Bluegrass Cardinals from their inception in 1975 until 1992. During this period, the Cardinals recorded 15 albums, made numerous appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and Ralph Emory show, and even performed on the white house lawn for president Carter. In 1991, David along with his father, Don Parmley, and Del McCoury and sons Ron and Rob, recorded the project entitled "Parmley and McCoury- families of tradition." This highly regarded recording received rave reviews, and won the IBMA's "recorded event of the year. Along with 3 chart topping Continental Divide projects, David has recorded 3 solo projects with an all star cast of musicians including, vestal, Simpkins, Tyminski, Duncan, highs, Carl Jackson, and the Osborne Brothers. David also produces numerous projects for Pinecastle Records, does custom coach work, and along with wife, B.J., handles exclusive management of Continental Divide.
Randy Graham

California native, Randy Graham, was born into a musical family, and acquired his first guitar for $7.00 at age 11. His talents developed rapidly on this instrument as well as mandolin and bass. In 1967 he began playing music with Don Parmley, and set the foundation, along with David, for one of the most influential bands of the 70's, 80's and 90's, The Bluegrass Cardinals. The "Cardinal Sound" was characterized by the lead vocals of David, Don's banjo playing and baritone singing, and the unmistakable high tenor of Randy Graham. Over the years his vocal and instrumental expertise has been included in work by Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, The New Quicksilver, and BlueRidge as well as guest appearances with The Johnson Mountain Boys and The Lonesome River Band. His association with Continental Divide resembles a long overdue "homecoming" as he and David complete the musical journey they began in 1967.
Steve Day

Caneyille, Kentucky native, Steve Day, holds two prestigious honors; one as a Kentucky state fiddle champion, and the other as the oldest member of Continental Divide. Introduced to bluegrass by his father and uncle, Hargis Day and Marion Higgs, Steve has been influenced by fiddle greats like Kenny Baker and Glen Duncan, although he strives (and succeeds) to develop his own unique style. Prior to joining forces with Continental Divide, Steve has become recognized as a valuable asset by friends, fans, and fellow musicians while performing off and on since 1987 with Gary Brewer's Kentucky Ramblers. Steve has added his third solo project "Fiddle Man", to his list of accomplishments. Despite his busy schedule with the Divide, Steve also finds time for a family agricultural business, his wife Diane and their son Austin.
Ben Greene

Ben Greene, hailing from Monroe, NC, is the newest member of Contincntal Divide, and recently celebrated is one year anniversary with the group. His long musical career, and musical talents lend themselves well to the group, as demonstrated on the band's latest CD, and on David's new gospel project. His bluegrass roots run deep, largely due to his Carolina upbringing, and were enhanced by his tenure in the 70's with the late Charlie Moore. Ben then took a bluegrass haitus, while showcasing his guitar playing skills with a country act for several years. Bluegrass lured him back, and he joined forces with Allen Mills, Dempsey Young, and Barry Barrier as a member of the Lost and Found for several years. He, like David, has also stood alongside Don Parmley on stage as a member of the acclaimed Bluegrass Cardinals. When not on the road with the band, Ben loves to spend time with his family, fishing with buddy, Phil, and especially with his canine companion, Shorty.
Tim Greene

Tim Greene of Lenoir, North Carolina, had been playing music in local bands for 9 years when his wife, Belinda, encouraged him to follow his dream to become a full-time musician. Since joining Continental Divide in November of 2001, Tim has displayed his talents to the pleasure of fellow band members, fans, and other musicians. His spare time is spent with his children, Ashley and Ryan.
