Except for the flash glare, this is what the bass color appears under normal overhead lighting.

The flash makes the center look more towards a sunburst

The back does appear to have light tones of gold or orange when there is strong lighting.

An angle shot gives a better representation of the normal color. However, the back does have gold tones in it rather than a darker orange.

The finish is somewhat blotchy. The tailpiece appears to be rosewood as I believe it should be.

The finish has that older look to it with dark chocolate areas. The neck is quite small compared to the basses that I have played over the years. Most of which were Kay basses. The finger board is rosewood.

This is the label inside the bass.

I purchased this bass during the early part of 2005 and the previous 2 owners have no idea of the age of this bass. As you can see, this is an Engelhardt bass, model EM1 with serial# 17694.

Originally, this page was posted to solicit help in finding out the manufacture date of this bass. Fortunately, I finally determined the year that this bass was manufactured. It turns out to be older than I thought. April 1977 is the date which makes the bass almost 30 years old.
