Dain Carlton Mergenthaler
Dain Carlton Mergenthaler is a professional songwriter/performer from Wilmington,
Delaware who has the versatility to write strong hook-laden power songs or soft, sensitive
ballads...all songs being very melodic in nature. Mergenthaler writes original pop
melodies in the tradition of his songwriting idols, Lennon & McCartney. Over the last
fifteen (15) years, Mergenthaler has produced numerous songwriting projects including
- the release of two (2) full length CD's (Eric/Dain, 1990) & (...half a dream, 1995)
- one (1) three song CD (Rain, 1997)
- one (1) full length cassette tape (The Strawberries, 1985),
- owns copyrights to a song catalog of approximately one hundred compositions.
Current activity includes the March 98' release of "Cold Getting Colder"', a pop rock CD of twelve (12) original songs; performing in local clubs as a solo acoustic artist, and playing guitar in a Newark, Delaware based band (Flying Toasters).

Dain Carlton Mergenthaler... sounds like something a doctor might prescribe. Mergenthaler writes and performs twelve (12) lively pop melodies in the tradition of his songwriting idols, Lennon & McCartney... straight forward pop tunes, the kind that have been making Matthew Sweet rather sweet lately. Also joining up with Mergenthaler are ex-Scandal members Keith Mack playing guitars/assorted stringed instruments, and Benjy King mastering keyboards. If you enjoy listening to strong melodies with hook-ladened choruses and guitar licks, you will be happy with 'Cold Getting Colder'. Rick Slater from New York produces. The world re-known Shelly Yakus (has engineered John Lennon, Don Henley, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, U2, etc.) lends support and mixes two songs; "Her Innocence" and "My Town". Recorded at Tongue & Groove in Philadelphia January 98' on the world famous Sunset Sound A room ADI console (used by Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Prince, Janis Joplin, Doobie Brothers, Jackson Browne, etc.).

cold getting colder
Twelve (12) pop/rock songs written by Mergenthaler/Cocucci. the CD was recorded at tongue & groove studios in Philadelphia and produced by Rick Slater from New York (Rick has produced Keith Richard, the Rolling Stones [assisted], Yoko Ono, Deborah Harry, Chuck d, just to name a few). Shelly Yakus has engineered/mixed two of the twelve songs along with Michael Musmanno [of wanderlust fame] (Shelly has engineered John Lennon, Don Henley, U2, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, hey!, let's not forget all of the Raspberries albums).
two former members of "Patti Smythe with Scandal" and "the Joe Cocker band"... Keith Mack playing guitars and assorted stringed instruments & Henjy King playing keyboards and piano. Wilmington rocker Nik Everett lends his vocals to one track performing a rocking duet with Mergenthaler (can you believe it?...they're actually fighting over a girl?) playing bass guitar and drums are local Newark rockers Charlie Hill & Bill Swartz. Philadelphia's Larry Gold plays an incredible unrehearsed cello on one track that is truly beautiful. Shane McMartin of Philadelphia handles all percussion, Elaine Terranova of Newark and Nancy Falkow of philadelphia round out things by adding backing vocals throughout the CD. Oh, and of course Mergenthaler plays electric and acoustic guitar, a little piano, and provides lead & backing vocals on all tracks.
